Lance “Claysmile” Smith worked for the federal government for over six years.  However, his primary passion has been and continues to be his career as a motivational speaker.  Known as “Claysmile”, Lance delivers entertaining presentations that effectively engage, educate, and empower.  Whether he is performing a stress management presentation at a government agency, a character education program at a high school, or an after-dinner speech at a corporate event, the audience is always entertained and inspired by Lance’s high energy, captivating stories, and insightful illustrations.  His presentations have become the content of “The Claysmile Show”, a TV show series on cable channel 19 in Montgomery County, MD.

Lance’s stage name “Claysmile” implies the importance of healthy decision-making.  “Just as a potter molds clay,” Lance says, “the decisions we make are molding the quality of our lives.”  In 2001, while in college, Lance decided to start delivering motivational presentations at local high schools, promoting within teenagers the character qualities of resilience, perseverance, self-control, and compassion.  As the popularity of his presentations grew, his programs expanded to include leadership training for corporations and government agencies.  Using motivational stories and illustrations from various sources (including his own life), his presentations combine entertainment with education to effectively engage, entertain, and empower.
